The federal government doesn't hand out free iPads directly. Lifeline pays for phone or internet service, not devices, and the ACP device discount ended in 2024. What you can get is an iPad offer from a Lifeline provider: iPhone Government offers iPad upgrades to eligible Lifeline customers, alone or with a phone, subject to availability. Some upgrade models carry a one-time co-pay, which we disclose up front.
